Dual currency bond

A bond on which the interest is paid in a given currency and the principal is repaid in another currency.

Dual currency bonds are usually issued and bear interest in the currency of a country where interest rates are relatively low, but at a higher rate than that normally expected for ordinary bonds issued in that currency. However, the interest rate is still lower than that normally associated with the other currency, which translates into a cost saving for the issuer.
